Athletics Successes for SV-ISS

Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Our Sports Club (SV-ISS) enables students throughout the school to participate in competitive sports locally and our teams more than hold their own against teams from other local sports clubs in the areas of basketball, soccer and track and field.

In the past school year SV-ISS experienced an amazing basketball boom, with membership growth and high demand in the basketball section resulting in the need to expand from one to four teams.

The interest in this sport has been reflected in success in competitions. The boys' Under 14 team achieved second place in the state league and the highlight was the girls' Under 15 team, which won the championship title in the regional league. "More wasn't possible as we started as outsiders.”, said a delighted basketball coach Assad I.

The team’s star player was Lika, a 14-year-old student from Japan, who achieved a fantastic average scoring rate of 25 points. "Of course this is also an honour for our school as well", praised Assad.

As a special thank you the ISS teams received an invitation to show off their talents to the Harlem Globetrotters, a famous basketball show-group – after all, as they say, recognition is the best motivation!

We wish the SV-ISS the best of luck for the forthcoming school year!
