Erasmus+ Europlay Student Exchange
The Erasmus+ Europlay Student Exchange week was a full of learning and fun. Our Polish, Italian and UK partners were warmly greeted on Monday by the whole school in a wonderful assembly led by the German Department.
After, our ISS Erasmus Students gave them a school tour and they all spent the rest of the day getting to know each other. The next day the students were tasked with looking at data that they had collected from their schools and using it to begin designing their playground spaces. They worked with ISS design specialist teachers to refine their design goals and draw up initial plans. These plans were then taken to the local Playground architecture and design studio, Kukuk, where the students spent the day learning alongside professionals and doing some hands on model building of their own. They then got to visit a playground construction site and speak directly to the professional builders. The final day was spent reflecting and forming an action plan to take back to their school in anticipation of the next Student Exchange that will take place in Ashington, UK next November.
Besides working hard on their playgrounds they also got the experience of enjoying a delicious multicultural lunch prepared by the grade 4 and 5 parents. They were treated to a fun Sports Day by our wonderful Athletic Department. They toured Stuttgart and the Mercedes Museum. They baked Bretzels with Herr Blankenhorn and on the last day they hiked to the Waldau to make "Stockbrot" and "Wurst".
It was a full week for all the students. It was hard work and hard fun! It was a great opportunity for all the students to work together, build their communications skills and share their own cultures with each other. We sent our Erasmus Partners off today in our Good-Bye Assembly exhausted, but taking back new friends, new experiences and full of inspiration for our next Student Exchange.
