ISS promotes global citizenship and international mindedness through its unique in-school Mother Tongue Programme to support understanding in the Primary Years Programme, its Service as Action program in the Middle Years and the CAS (Creativity Action Service) program in the Diploma program.
"The school does a good job of inculcating the importance of
social justice and cultural awareness." ISS Family Survey 2016
A recent review of International Mindedness in the Lower School, resulted in the following key statements, chosen by staff to reflect our aims in embedding this essential reference through and across our programmes:
"We must not only learn about other cultures. We must learn from them."
"To know and love one’s own traditions and cultures is the starting point for international-mindedness as this leads us to know and love others."
ISS offers a number of different extra-curricular global citizenship and character-building opportunities - see the orange sidebar. Please click here for a description of these various opportunities.
