Magic at the International Cafe
After the cold and rain and snow of last week we were relieved when Sunday dawned bright and sunny, just in time for the April International Café with refugees from the Helene-Pfleiderer-Straße. The afternoon started with a visit from the “Great Bastian”, the conjuror Bastian Fischer (www.salon-nouveau.de), who held not only the large party of children, but also the adults spellbound with his conjuring tricks!
Bastian was followed by activities out in the sunshine as ISS parents, students and staff and students from the Wilhelms-Gymnasium joined the refugees in soccer games, table tennis and badminton. All of the children enjoyed blowing bubbles and a number of the girls and ladies astounded us with their prowess with a skipping rope! So much activity but everyone still found time for tea and cake before piling back onto the bus. Thanks to everyone who supports these afternoons.
