Friday was Multicultural Evening…and wow, what an event! The foyer, Aula and hallways were full as over 800 people visited the many different tables of food representing various nations. There were delicious Italian meats, American pies, sushi, crepes, and many other dishes from around the world. There were so many options it was hard to choose, and everyone certainly walked away with a very full stomach! Students also put on performances. The Japanese students did an incredible dance that was perfectly coordinated. There was also K-pop, Indian singing and dancing, a Chinese dance, tae kwon do, cheerleading and musical instrument performances.
Multicultural Evening celebrates our diversity and the beauty of the cultures our families come from. As the participants walked around the school tasting food from the different nations, it was like walking around the world and experiencing a piece of many different cultures. Sometimes it can be easy to forget that we are at an international school when we get busy with exams, papers, work, preparation for lessons, etc. However, being in this diverse environment is so enriching and valuable, and Friday was a strong reminder of this!
Thank you to the PTA for hosting this event, to all the parents and students who prepared delicious food, to Rosie and her team for setting up and cleaning up, to everyone who shared their creative talents, and to the many participants for coming to this event! See you next year!
