"Being a part of the ISS GISST program and having the opportunity to travel around Germany with my teams have been some of the highlights of my middle and high school years" ISS student
ISS is a member of the German International School Sports Tournaments league. Within this league, ISS athletes will be able to compete against other International Schools across German in friendly matches and tournaments. ISS GISST teams are competitive in nature and rosters wil be decided by a try-out process when necessary. Students in grades 6 through 12 are invited and encouraged to participate. Varsity teams involve students who are 13 to 18 years old on September 1st of the school year in which they wish to compete. U14 teams involve students who are 10 to 13 years old on September 1st of the school year in which they wish to compete.
Philosophy: "student first; athlete second" is the fundamental concept supporting the ISS After School Sports and Activity Program. Maintaining appropriate levels of work completion, attendance and achievement on course examinations is taken very seriously by the ISS Athletic Director. After school sports and activities are extracurricular and can be put aside when a student is struggling academically.
The GISST teams have defined seasons:
Fall - August to December for Badminton, Football (Soccer), Volleyball, Cross Country and Golf
Winter - December to March for Swimming and Basketball
Spring - March to May for Track & Field and Tennis
GISST Fees: Fee structure for GISST teams will be 125 Euros per player per sport. The school will pay for all other costs.
If you would like to know how often our GISST students are going to be away with their group, please see the GISST Tournament Schedule for the school year 2016-2017.
For students at Degerloch, please see the Degerloch GISST Overview to find out what sports are offered. If you attend school at the Sindelfingen campus please be aware of the start time for the sports. Students may not be able to participate in all the sports offered due to the time conflict between when school is finished and when sports practices begin. See the Sindelfingen GISST Overview to find out which sports are offered.
