A Shared Vision, Unique Experiences
The International Baccalaureate Programmes
ISS proudly offers three IB Programmes, which provide continuity and progression for students aged 3–19:
Primary Years Programme (PYP): Early Years – Grade 5
Middle Years Programme (MYP): Grade 6 – 10
Diploma Programme (DP): Grade 11 & 12
These programmes are chosen for their alignment with our values and their recognition by the Baden-Württemberg requirements and the Kultusminister Konferenz. Each programme emphasizes rigorous academic standards, student-centered learning, and a commitment to character development.

Our Definition of Learning
We define learning as being a transformative process for each learner that combines their unique predispositions and experiences with the development of disciplinary and transdisciplinary skills, knowledge and understanding, to nurture and develop character, competence, and a caring disposition. We believe that learning happens when learners
- understand what they are learning and why they are learning it,
- demonstrate agency in guiding their own self-directed* learning journey,
- reflect on their strengths and monitor their own success,
- take informed risks that allow them to experiment and learn from mistakes,
- make connections between each other and the world around them, and
- embrace multiple perspectives with humility and harness the power of our diverse community.
*Self-directed learning is when learners are accountable for and joyfully engage in choosing the process, content, skills, and outcomes of their learning, with the guidance and support of others, to positively impact our dynamic and interconnected world.

Overview
Students enjoy a beautiful rooftop garden and purpose-built classrooms, supported by experienced educators and a team of subject specialists who use local cultural opportunities to bring learning to life.
Early years

Early Years aGES 3 – 5
Both campuses offer nurturing, play-based learning environments that introduce foundational skills in reading, math, and language while celebrating curiosity and the natural world.
Primary years

Primary Years grade 1- grade 5
Our Primary School program builds on the PYP framework, emphasizing inquiry-based learning and project work in a caring, multicultural environment. While the core philosophy is shared across campuses, each offers distinct features: Both campuses culminate the PYP journey with the Grade 5 Exhibition, a student-led project showcasing their growth as learners and their understanding of global issues.
Middle years

Middle Years GRADE 6 – GRADE 10
The Middle School years at ISS are a time of growth, exploration, and independence. Students at both campuses engage with the IB MYP, which balances academic rigor with interdisciplinary learning and a focus on developing critical thinking skills. Students completing the MYP in Grade 10 can earn the IB MYP Certificate or IB MYP Bilingual Certificate, which is recognized as equivalent to the German Mittleren Schulabschluss (Mittlere Reife).
Diploma

Diploma GRADE 11 – GRADE 12
In the final stage of their ISS journey, students pursue the IB Diploma Programme, a comprehensive, globally respected curriculum that prepares them for university and beyond. ISS goes beyond academic preparation. Through expert counseling and university advising, we ensure students are not only prepared for success at top institutions worldwide but also equipped to thrive in their future careers.
