At ISS we believe all young people should receive a first class STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education.  This belief goes hand in hand with our commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning and to the creation of partnerships with local companies, scientists and research centres.  In fact, based as we are in a city renowned for its contributions to engineering and technology, we believe that today’s world requires a creative approach to problem solving.  STEM + Arts = STEAM.

The German equivalent of STEM is MINT (Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaften und Technik) and a MINT/STEAM Coordinator has responsibility for encouraging the explicit recognition and integration of MINT/STEAM educational opportunities, establishing opportunities with local businesses, promoting parent involvement in MINT/STEAM initiatives and working with Leadership to develop a strategic plan for promoting MINT/STEAM across both campuses.
