Being Neighbourly

Remember the Nest, our temporary classroom space for our Early Years students from 2009 to 2014? Remember the excitement when an extremely generous parent designed and donated the wonderful tent structure to keep the little ones dry when crossing to the Lower School and shaded from the hot sun?

But do you know who the last children to use the Nest were? Not our mice, squirrels or birds, but 100 children from the Kita in Felix-Dahn-Straße in Degerloch. The Kita building had developed problems with damp and had been desperately looking for alternative accommodation in Degerloch for the month of July so that repairs could be done. Our Nest container classrooms were due to be removed in July but we were able to postpone it and the Kita took them over, together with two classrooms in the main building that they used as a lunch room and a sleeping room.

Wir fühlen uns sehr willkommen und freuen uns, vor allem die weitläufige Außenanlage der ISS nutzen zu dürfen“, Daniela Militzer, Director of the Kita told the Stuttgarter Zeitung.
