Did you know that on the 30th of May this year, the International School of Stuttgart e.V. will be 35 years old? We hope to be able to celebrate this with a party at the end of the school year, but until then will be counting down to 35 with some highlights from our history.
Starting with 16 students in three composite classes in the Autumn of 1985, the school was located in the Böblingen Waldheim. However, by March 1986 enrolment had doubled and the school was seeking new premises for the start of the 1986/87 school year. A vacant state school in Möhringen was kindly made available by the city of Stuttgart and provided space for the addition of a Kindergarten class and a home for the Elementary School for the next 12 years.
The founding families were Americans working for IBM and other local firms and included the Cain, McClelland, Romey and Skillicorn families, which we thank them for their pioneering spirit!
