Grade 7 Visit to Metal and Electric Industry Information Truck
As a MINT-freundliche Schule we are committed to encouraging interest in MINT/STEAM subjects and careers. So, for our Sindelfingen grade 7 students the opportunity to visit the Metal and Electrical Industry InfoTruck at the Sindelfingen market place this Tuesday was one not to be missed! As part of the Sindelfingen Wissenstage initiative, the employers' association Südwestmetall and its member companies use the truck's presentation area of around 80 m² to inform and advertise to schools for junior employees in Germany's largest industrial sector.
Students learned about the different branches of the metal and electrical industry, saw videos where young people explained why they had chosen various careers in these branches and had the opportunity to try a number of hands-on activities related to metal working and electrical/electronic engineering. The class came back with a better idea of the kind of jobs available within this sector and heard, many times, how important being interested in mathematics, as well as physics is to enter this particular world of work. The InfoTruck presentations also emphasized the aspect of working with your hands in all of these areas, as well as the sense of accomplishment in a product well made. Made in Germany!
Many thanks to the experienced pedagogical advisors on the InfoTruck who gave our grade 7 a better insight into the versatile entry opportunities of the metal and electrical industry.
