When was the last time you were exposed to the promotion of fast fashion?
In English Language and Literature, the Grade 9s have been studying persuasive language. They were asked to consider the statement: “The essential nature of marketing persuades people to consume which, in turn, impacts the global environment”.
Students learnt how the language of advertising affects us in broad terms and also down to the power of single words on the Internet: Imagine how many million more products are sold when consumers are invited to ‘buy now’ instead of ‘spend now.’ Students worked on using language to positively affect the environment and this is one of the videos produced to provide a solution to the problem of ever-increasing consumption.
