Dangerboy's Learner Profile Adventure
Did you know………?
The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. The profile's aims to develop learners who are:
At the Lower School assembly last week, these Learner Profile attributes were introduced to the students by a special visitor – the clown “Dangerboy” (a.k.a – Alex Whitaker, the PYP Coordinator). Dangerboy told the children that the Learner Profile is like a lighthouse, guiding them in their learning and helping show them the ways in which they can be successful.
Each of the attributes were shown on a flag and students were invited to share what they think the words mean. As each flag came out, Dangerboy added it to the lighthouse. The final learner profile attribute that was introduced was “balanced”, upon which note Dangerboy picked up the whole lighthouse and balanced it on his chin!!!
A fun, engaging and memorable experience for students to connect with and engage with the Learner Profile. If you would like to know more about the Learner Profile – check out the link here: http://www.ibo.org/benefits/learner-profile/
