Degerloch Campus

The Degerloch Campus is located just above Stuttgart in the beautiful and green suburb that is home to the iconic Stuttgart TV tower. Serving students from 3 years old to 18 years old, Early Years through 12th grade, it is easily accessible by public transport and is just 15 minutes outside the Stuttgart city center. The campus is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), thus making it one of a select group of IB World Schools offering three continuous programs.

The primary language of instruction is English and the campus is known for its home and family language linguistic support and our emphasis on student pastoral care.

Our teachers are responsible for nurturing each student, helping them to meet the challenges posed at different stages of their development. ISS is also proud of its experiential intern program, and career orientation and college guidance is available to all students in Grades 9 through 12.

There is a wide range of holistic learning experiences outside the classroom such as a variety of team sports, excellent art opportunities and many interesting afternoon program offerings. The school is also a leading provider of experiential learning through its work with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, KIVA, and Model United Nations.

Our Facilities

The Degerloch Campus is in a small neighbourhood of local companies, gardens and three German schools. The campus itself consists of three modern purpose-built buildings. Our Early Years “Nest” area is at one end of the campus and features bright classrooms organized through a Reggio Emilia pedagogical approach, a dedicated playground with student-maintained gardens and a beautiful covered area that emphasises outdoor learning and play.

Kindergarten through Grade 1 classrooms have direct access to a larger playground and all other well provisioned classrooms, have access to a cafeteria, an extraordinary rooftop library and multiple smaller learning spaces utilized for specialized learning in Music, Art and Languages. There is a gym dedicated to Lower School students.

The Upper School facility is currently under construction to update and provide a state of the art and expanded learning environment. Surrounding learning spaces feature cluster organized classroom facilities, an upper school sports gymnasium, state of the art Science laboratories, Music rooms, Art and Design / Technology rooms, a library and flexible dining areas. All classrooms are well provisioned with technology tools and our IT environment provides a well-supported 1:1 ‘Bring-your-own-laptop’ expectation for grades 6-12

The school has excellent high-end learning opportunities, in particular the laboratories and facilities for the arts and digital design.

“My parents also really like to get involved in helping the school and the students. My dad is involved in the PTA and my mom loves coming up with fun ideas for how the Booster Club can generally support school spirit and also at sports events.” – ISS Student
