summer@iss
ISS has been offering summer opportunities for our internationally mobile and local German families for more than 3,000 children over the past 10 years. Our programming celebrates learning English and German in a fun and active program that takes advantage of our beautiful region. Enjoying our surroundings and learning how to communicate has built enduring friendships between students from all over the world.
Now, more than ever, Summer is an opportunity for children to relax and replenish themselves while also continuing to grow in so many ways! If you are looking for an English language summer activity or moving to the Stuttgart area over the summer, our camp in Degerloch is a great way for your child to get a taste for their new school, or just experience an interdisciplinary, immersive learning and recreational summer program that provides engaging learning for English, German, Science, Math and other elective classes.
I love going to summer@iss! We do many fun activities and I get to know the local German kids that are not at ISS. I have even stayed friends with a few that I met last year. My favorite theme week last year was Outdoor Adventures but I am looking forward to “A Race Through Time”!
Degerloch Summer Camp
Taking advantage of our exceptional campus that is located nearby beautiful forests and the dynamic, safe and welcoming city of Stuttgart, summer@iss offers programs featuring engaging learning experiences and fun activities through a wide variety of mediums.
Our traditional camp program is for students aged between 4 and 13 years of age and is designed to strengthen and develop students’ social and academic skills in a mother-tongue English environment. In addition to English and German lessons, we will be offering integrated, engaging Science, Math and Music/Art courses for those families interested in maintaining learning over the summer.
Below is an example of the Traditional Camp:
Traditional Camps
The camp runs on a weekly basis and campers are enrolled for one-week increments.
Elements of the Earth
Week 1 Journey to the Center of the Earth
Week 2 Colors of the Wind
Week 3 Fire Away!
Week 4 The Wild World of Water
Week 5 Forces of Nature
Week 6 Through Time and Space
Week 7 Guardians of the Globe

We want children to be able to gain skills in different subjects through hands-on exploration and inquiry. By mixing traditional learning methods with the relaxed camp atmosphere, campers are sure to have fun while learning their language of choice and so much more!
