Model United Nations: Combatting Inequalities
Early this month, 450 participants from 25 different schools gathered here at the International School of Stuttgart e.V. (ISS) for the twelfth annual Model United Nations at the International School of Stuttgart (MUNISS) conference. Participants came from all over Europe, including Albania, Greece, Spain, Sweden and Turkey, and some schools even travelled all the way from the United States. Model United Nations is an educational simulation and academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations.
At every MUN conference there is a general theme, and this year’s MUNISS theme was “”. The theme helped guide the Executive Team in their decision making regarding the committee topics that the delegates discussed over the course of the three day conference. Over the course of the last 10 months, the Executive Team worked tirelessly to make MUNISS 2019 possible.
The weekend was a great success, full of fruitful debate, delicious food, and happy directors. Old friends were reunited, and new friendships were formed. For those of you who attended, I hope you all had as much fun as we did and hope that the weekend inspired you to share MUN with your peers, teachers, and families, to help and encourage the growth of Model United Nations within our school.
